Lent 2025

This year, Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 5. On this solemn day, we remember our mortality and our need to reconcile with God, trusting in God’s steadfast love and mercy for us. We receive the cross of ashes as a symbol of the dust from which we were first formed and will return. Here at Grace, we’ll have services at 8:15 AM for our preschool families, and at 12 PM and 7 PM for everyone. Both the afternoon and evening services will include Holy Communion, offering a powerful way to begin this sacred season.

Lent lasts forty days, mirroring the forty days that Jesus spent in the desert fasting and resisting temptation. It’s a time to deepen our spiritual practices—through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving—whether that means giving food, financial support, or time to those in need.

In addition to Sunday worship, during Lent, we have weekly worship on Wednesday evenings, and special observances during Holy Week, leading up to Easter.

Psalm 34:8 says: “Taste and see that the LORD is good.” This Lent, each week of our Wednesday night worship will highlight a different sense exploring how sight, sound, scent, touch and taste help us understand our embodied God in new ways.  Worship will include hymns, prayer and thanksgiving and interactive meditation or reflection stations. For those who can’t join in person, the livestream will provide reflection questions for you to consider. Join us each Wednesday at 6 PM in the sanctuary or online for this enriching experience.

Holy Week kicks off with Palm Sunday on April 13, with ONE worship at 10 AM, and continues with Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services on April 17 and 18, at both 12 PM and 7 PM. This year, as part of our Holy Week observances, we will have a prayer labyrinth available in the Fellowship Hall on Good Friday, April 18. A key fob is required to access the labyrinth, so please plan accordingly.

Finally, we will joyously celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord on Sunday, April 20, with ONE worship at 10 AM. Don’t miss this powerful season of reflection, renewal, and celebration.
